SUMMER: for fun but not to stop thinking!

With Summer vacation straight ahead, remember to plan for those 3 months so that the transition from the present school year to next year is not a stark stop-one-year, wait 3 months, and then start the learning process again.

We're not talking about homeschooling for the summer; we're simply suggesting that periodically (once or twice a week, for instance) a semi-structured but enjoyable activity should be planned that builds on or reviews the math and language arts skills from the past year. Be creative, use variety, incorporate the out-of-doors and vacation settings....the benefits are obvious.

Education Station has lots of resources and ideas to help you in this venture.

Ask your child's teachers for areas that would benefit him/her most. This could be part of your last conference for the year.
